The Bhoomi puja or Bhu puja is the ritual that is performed before starting of a new construction.
In this, mother earth is treated as Goddess and hence worship and devotional respects being paid to the Bhoomi, which points to the mother earth or Bhooma Devi.
Devi’s blessing is pledged through Bhoomi Puja so that it removes all the doshas (flaws, defects) of Vastu Shastra.
Typically the Bhoomi Puja is done before digging the land or plot to seek permission and blessing from mother earth.
The Puja also removes all doshas and the negative energy and get blessings from the Bhu Mata.

In Hindu mythology, bhoomi pooja is regarded as one of the important pujas. It is primarily a ritual dedicated to the “earth”i.e “Bhoomi” which is considered as a sacred element in Hinduism and is referred to as “ Mother Goddess’. According to this ritual, the land i.e Mother Earth at the construction site is worshiped before the beginning of construction work in order to eradicate the adverse effects and vastudoshas of the land and smoothen the process of construction without any hassle. Even the farmers perform this ritual before tilling their land. It is generally performed in the north east corner of the construction site or farming land (for good agricultural yield). This puja is performed under the supervision of a priest with the items like earthen lamps, oil lamps, turmeric, Kumkum, camphor, coconut, fruits, rice grains, betelnuts, panchamrit (a mixture of milk, ghee, sugar and curd), basil leaves and sweets.
